In order to select the participants for the Tongji Construction Festival from all second-semester students of the Faculty of Architecture, the KOEN Institute organizes a one-day architecture competition in the studios at Kronesgasse. In the beginning of the first design seminar in the second semester, the students are given the task of designing a pavilion. By the end of the seminar, eight hours later, the students have to present their ideas on the basis of analog plans, sketches and architecture models. From the submitted works five to six students are selected in an anonymous selection process who will then travel to Shanghai for the official competition.
