The theme of the International Construction Festival 2016 at Tongji University in Shanghai was to design a pavilion under the motto Micro Community on a plot of 5 m x 5 m within five days using 40 plastic panels and to build it on a 1:1 scale. It was TU Graz's first participation in this competition. The five architecture students Hannes Stockklauser, Irnes Fatkic, Uranbayar Basbayar, Uyanga Boldbaatar and Jakob Bock, accompanied by Prof. Petra Petersson and Univ. Ass. Claus Plasencia Kanzler traveled to Shanghai. 51 national and seven international teams took part in the competition. The Graz team's design stood out positively among the other very expressive and elaborately built pavilions due to its simple and minimalist design approach, as well as its ingenious structural solution. With their Light House project, they were able to convince the jury and took 3rd place.
