Reliquiae Reliquiarum - The Hidden Potential of Zagreb’s Industrial Heritage

My motivation to explore the existing in a different way and set it in a new context is rooted in the Croatian industrial building culture and its current state of neglect. The issue of the former silk factory addressed here is not only an approach to revitalizing and rebuilding Zagreb’s Trešnjevka district but also plays a vital role in its future development within the urban context. Rather than solving complex urban issues, the thesis focuses on the exploration and potential transformation of a former industrial site, uncovering its hidden potential and new integration into the chaotic neighbourhood. The goal is also to raise awareness among residents for this part of industrial culture and encourage community participation.
