In 2018 the excursion in the second semester took place in Stockholm. Over five days the city, its architecture, paths, squares and culture were experienced and explored by the 140 students from Graz University of Technology. By sketching and developing mappings the students learned to see and analyse the city from different perspectives. A number of modern and contemporary residential buildings were also visited in Stockholm in line with their Subject Matter Housing. These included the houses on Kransbindarvägen - the project by Petra Petersson and her Berlin office Realarchitektur - which the students were already familiar with from their Construction Lectures. A second important point was the many freely accessible public buildings in the city, such as the cultural center by Peter Celsing or the House of the People by Markelius. The students were also able to compare Asplund's municipal library with Ralph Erskine's library on the university campus. A visit to Asplund and Lewerentz's forest cemetery provided time for rest, reflection and sketching. The excursion was rounded off with a boat trip through Stockholm´s Archipelago and a closing party at the harbour.
