Schrottenturm - Revitalization of an industrial monument
Even as a small boy, swimming in Bad Maiernigg on the opposite bank, I wondered what kind of tower it was that jutted out of the treetops on the opposite bank. I was satisfied with the answer that it was a scrap tower and remained firmly convinced that old scrap metal was thrown down in it. Of course, this tower had never served this purpose in its almost 200-year history. The striking, highly visible location in a prominent position and the decades of vacancy gave me the impetus to breathe new life into the area as part of my thesis - even if only fictitiously. In this thesis, the revitalization should not only focus on the listed tower, but also give the architecture of the Wörthersee area a stage.
