Every year, the Sketchbook Award of the KOEN Institute is awarded at the summer exhibition of the entire Faculty of Architecture at the end of the summer semester. The prize has become an integral part of the official program. Several sketchbooks from the first year of study are nominated for awards and prizes. The main focus in selecting the winners is not on who was able to create the best individual drawings, but on the extent to which the sketchbook was used to develop, elaborate and present design and construction ideas. The prize is intended to encourage students to use freehand drawing in their further studies and thus acquire a routine in sketching.
