Gender Taskforce is a working group at Graz University of Technology curated by Petra Petersson and Ena Kukić committed to improving gender equality and equity in architectural education. Started in January 2021 as a curriculum update action by four women at the KOEN Institute, the group quickly grew into a network of educational workers from many departments within the Faculty of Architecture. The campaign was inspired by other active groups from Stockholm, Vienna and ETH Zurich and was based on the gender work that Petra Petersson and Christina Linortner have been doing since the start of the institute in 2013. The diversity of the group’s projects reflects the multitude of approaches for correcting and enhancing established structures within teaching architecture. In-depth analyses conducted within the group’s program help question the framework in which architecture should be taught in order to reflect and react to the nature of our reality. The projects were sponsored and supported by the Faculty and the Rectorate of Graz University of Technology.
