Health Resort at Lassnitzhöhe

The old health resort at Laßnitzhöhe is a project that began in the early 1970s under the leadership of Dr. Franz Merli, a renowned neurologist from Graz. It was intended to be a groundbreaking project, becoming the first Austrian specialized institute of its kind, focused on the treatment of autonomic nervous disorders. The range of therapies would have included gymnastics, autogenic training, saunas, terrain therapies, Kneipp therapies, sleep therapy, and much more. A particular highlight would have been the large indoor swimming pool, open not only to patients but also to external visitors such as school groups. The architectural firm Neuhold-Gellner from Graz was responsible for the planning and realization of the health resort. Years of hard work went into the project, but it faced bankruptcy due to financial difficulties just before the planned opening. The main idea of this design is to breathe new life into the health resort. It should not only serve as a place of healing and relaxation but also reflect its eventful history, becoming a new attraction for the community of Laßnitzhöhe and for people from the entire region.
