Am Graben - Urban Repair in a Small Town

Urban repair in the context of a small town... What does that mean? One could also simply call it urban development or neighbourhood development. However, urban repair can offer a unique perspective to neighbourhood development, as it considers small-scale elements, relationships, and impacts in a different context. This work examines the context and current development of the small town of Vöcklabruck. Like many other places, the opening of a shopping centre on the town’s outskirts has led to increasing vacancies in the city centre from the outset. The approach here is that the town, more specifically the core zone, can be repaired through densification.
