Puchwerk I - Revitalization of an Industrial Area
The Puch brand is one of the most culturally and industrially significant components in the history of the Austrian economy of the 19th and 20th centuries. The last, originally preserved production hall of the former Puchwerk I, in the 5th district of Graz, was declared a listed building in 2003 due to public interest. The hall currently serves as an exhibition centre for the history of mobility and due to that, the preservation is called into question because of its location in an almost exclusively industrial and commercial area. The aim of this master's thesis is to develop a theme-oriented design for the former site of Puchwerk I, thereby guaranteeing an upgrading of the area, the continuation of museum operations and an increase in visitor frequency on site.
