The industrial district surrounding the Tabakfabrik area in Linz, located on the former factory arm of the Danube, is currently at the forefront of visionary urban development. This process, originating from the Tabakfabrik, is poised to end the shadowed existence of the former Municipal Meat Market and integrate it into the city’s fabric. This paper develops a repurposing concept for this rehabilitation, offering city dwellers a space not defined by consumer interests but by diversity, overlap, and informality.
