The Last Room - Hospice in Graz
Although death is ever-present and inevitable for everyone, it has been pushed to the margins of societal discourse, especially in the 20th century. The design of a hospice addresses the question of how society deals with the topic of death. A look into history reveals a significant shift in the way we approach the dying process. Advances in medicine allow us to delay death, and, when possible, even forget about it. The hospice community’s mission is to provide patients with a dignified farewell. Alongside the patients, it is primarily the family members who suffer and require care from an interdisciplinary team.
