W86 - Revitalization of an Industrial Brownfield in a Rural Area

This thesis bridges the exploration of working with existing structures, through building research, to the application of these insights in the example of the former M. Wenger’s Erben limeworks in the Weizklamm. Based on this, a design with mixed reuse was developed for the M. Wenger’s Erben limeworks site. Specifically, it integrates a seminar centre for theoretical and practical craft learning, an event space, a private office and storage for the owners, two commercially usable workshops with storage, a museum, and a residence for an onsite caretaker and their family into the existing structures.
