The task at the Beginners Workshops 2018 was to design an exhibition. During the first three days of their studies 160 architecture students designed and built the exhibition architecture for the Graz Architecture Diploma Awards, the so-called GAD Awards, at Kronesgasse. The students were divided into small groups and each group was assigned a diploma project. The work was based on the requirements of the exhibition and also partly on the respective diploma thesis. The exhibition architecture was tested in the first two days using 1:10 scale models and translated into 1:1 scale on the third day and built from wooden slats and white cardboard panels. The newcomers thus designed for the graduates of the Faculty of Architecture. The entire Kronesgasse was occupied and the students appropriated their studios an future environment. The exhibition was opened with a grand award ceremony on October 12th 2018.
