In the elective seminar Conceptual Design, students are introduced to structured decision-making processes and design strategies. The aim is to gain an awareness of a self-reflective design attitude. Design is a cognitive process that combines practice-oriented considerations, systematic and historical aspects as well as content from different disciplines. Designing can be described as a recursive process. In recurring loops of questioning the task and solving new scenarios, the design develops from the initial ideas to the completion of the personal design. Designing is therefore a strategy for decision-making. Designing is learned, practiced and transformed into a routine in the elective subject by developing design variants.
