A main topic of the KOEN Institute is to teach the first year students how to use analogue models as a drafting medium and a representational tool. In the various construction and design-oriented courses in the first year of study, the basics of creating models are taught and further possibilities of model making are demonstrated. In contrast to drawings, working on spatial exercises with the help of analog models is also easily accessible for people without prior knowledge. Students learn to test and further develop their design ideas on the model, making unexpected discoveries and developing a routine for working with the design medium of the analogue model.
