Plot Twist - Residential Building in Poblenou / Barcelona

The present work Plot Twist - Design of a Residential Building in Poblenou within the Urban Context of Barcelona addresses the deviation from the missed goal of creating public, social, and affordable housing in the @22 urban development area of Poblenou, a district of Sant Martí in Barcelona. It aims to provide an adequate solution within the rigid grid of the urban structure designed by Cerdà. Following the typical dense perimeter block development with its deep floor plans and associated disadvantages would no longer be sensible today. Instead this typology is broken and a similar density is achieved by dividing the project into two building volumes, addressing the problems of deep blocks and attempting to solve them through targeted measures.
